To celebrate Easter, Stockwell Good Neighbours had a party at the Ovalhouse. As well as the usual Tai-Chi, there was singing, dancing and a special Caribbean feast.
However there was another reason to celebrate – Mr Hamilton was made an honourary member of Stockwell Good Neighbours. Mr Hamilton is 98 years old and has been coming to the club for 38 years!
The Mayor of Lambeth came to celebrate everything that Mr Hamilton has done for Stockwell Good Neighbours since he began. He gave him an award from the group and a medal on behalf of the council. He spoke about how much he loved the group, saying:
‘Stockwell Good Neighbours is keeping the spirit of Lambeth alive. It is a fantastic way to keep people healthy, through conversations with their peers and activities. It keeps their brains going as they get to chat to their friends. One member is 102 and still dancing and smiling!’
